The Arch is located in downtown St. Louis, Missouri, along the Mississippi Riverfront. The Arch, also known as the Gateway Arch, is a monument that commemorates the Western expansion of the United States and is our Nation's tallest monument. The Arch is part of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial which also includes the Old Courthouse and the Museum of Westward Expansion. A visit to the Arch is not complete without riding one of the innovative trams to the top. The trip to the top of the 630 feet high stainless steel Arch takes about 4 minutes.
The Gateway Arch and Museum of Westward Expansion are FREE to visitors and are open daily, 9am to 6pm, Labor Day to Memorial Day. The trams to the top of the Arch run from 9:50am to 4:50pm. There is a fee to ride the tram to the top. Tickets for the tram can be purchased the day of your visit or can be purchased online the day before. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, the Arch and Museum are open from 8am to 10pm and the trams run from 8:15am to 9:10pm. The Arch is closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Day.
